SYLLABUS

PEDAGOGY

  • • Course Reading Materials in the form of text-books, articles, research papers, etc. are made available to all the students in advance. The students are expected to study these materials before they come for the respective lectures.
  • • Lectures are delivered by experienced faculty members to have a highly interactive one-to-one session. The system incorporates two way communication and conceptual discussions which enable the students to develop an understanding of the course.
  • • Case based Teaching Methodology is followed in the lesson plans to give a first-hand experience to the students in their respective specializations. The focus of this process is to encourage group/ individual presentations which will enhance their analytical decision making abilities.
  • • Business simulations and role-plays which mimic real life business situations are regularly conducted in the curriculum. These simulations help the students in applying the learnt concepts and theories to aid business decision making.
  • • Assignments and projects on a regular basis are given to the students which further enhances their critical thinking, reasoning and creative skills.
  • • A lot of importance is given to Industry-Academia interface which help complement the class room learning and developing a practical perspective. Visits from both academia and industry are organized on diverse topics related to international business, cross-cultural management, business ethics and policy decision making.
  • • The school has floated three clubs along the lines of specializations viz., Marketing Management, Financial Management and Human Resource Management which organize events on a regular basis. Moreover, special emphasis is given to personality development classes. These club based activities and personality development classes are a great way to build and develop leadership skills, team skills, presentations and public speaking skills of the future corporate managers. It also helps them to understand cross-cultural differences and ways of managing people.

COURSE OUTLINE

The MBA course under Assam Science and Technology University is a 2-year full time programme consisting of 4 semesters. The 1st year covers the preliminary concepts of various disciplines like Finance, Marketing, Human Resource and Production. After the completion of 2-month Summer Internship Programme in various companies, the students are required to take a dual specialization from either of Finance/Marketing/Human Resource in their 2nd year.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CELL (EDC)

EDC - The year 2013 marked the start of the Entrepreneurship Development Cell of Royal School of Business. The cell was formed with the basic view of the developing entrepreneurial skills among the students who aspire to be entrepreneurs and impart them with the requisite knowledge which is not otherwise a part of the regular classroom curriculum. As EDC’s first initiative, a workshop on making a Business Plan was organized.
